Step 1

Start your profile

Go to google.com/business, sign in and click Manage now. Search for your business. If it already exists, you can request access instead of creating a duplicate.

Step 2

Choose your name and category

Enter your real business name exactly as customers see it. Don't add extra keywords. Pick the primary category that best describes what you do. You can add more categories later.

Adding keywords or locations to your business name goes against Google's guidelines and can get the profile suspended.

Step 3

Add your location or service area

If customers visit you, add your address. If you travel to customers, add a service area and hide your address.

Step 4

Add contact details

Add your phone number and website so customers can call or click straight from Google.

Step 5

Verify your business

Google will ask you to verify. Depending on your business, this can be by video recording, phone or text, email or postcard. Follow the steps it shows.

Verification can take from a few minutes to several days. You can keep editing your profile while you wait.

Step 6

Complete every section

Add opening hours, a clear description, services or products, and photos. A complete profile gives customers the information they need to choose you.

Step 7

Ask for reviews and reply to them

From your profile, use Ask for reviews to get a link you can share with real customers. Reply politely to every review, good or bad.

Never buy reviews or offer rewards for reviews. It breaks Google's policies and FTC rules on fake reviews.

Step 8

Keep it fresh

Update hours for holidays, add new photos and publish occasional updates or offers so your profile stays accurate.
